THE PROJECT
Within Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is a dice-based mini-game called ‘Orlog’. The game has proven so popular that it’s broken free of Valhalla, and has its own feverish fanbase.
THE CHALLENGE
The sheer hype around Orlog convinced Ubisoft to release a physical retail version of the dice game in 2021. Ubisoft rolled high and asked us to produce two custom kits – one for them and a kit for France’s biggest Orlog fan, Gotaga.
ServicesLimited Edition, Press Kit, Custom
Commissioning two custom game kits was key to contributing to the hype for Orlog’s physical release; the kits’ exclusivity became a real talking point throughout the Creed community. Our team created Orlog as they would have in Viking times – the whole kit was fashioned from wood including dice, cards, cup and the box, giving the items a sleek finish that even Eivor would appreciate.
One kit was pillaged by Ubisoft, for them to keep forever. We packed the other on a longboat and shipped it to one of France’s biggest streamers and Orlog lover, Gotaga. Gotaga had an ‘Odin’s Hootenanny’ of his own when he received the kit; he unboxed it for his fans, posted images of it across social media to his legions of followers, and plays it often.
