THE PROJECT
French video game development studio Dontnod Entertainment was founded in 2008, and has built a huge following thanks to atmospheric, narrative titles including Life Is Strange, Vampyr and Twin Mirror.
THE CHALLENGE
Dontnod Entertainment rebranded in 2022, with the studio now presenting itself as DON’T NOD. TAKEOFF was asked to help overhaul DON’T NOD’s visual identity, and create internal branding assets and guidelines for the studio.

The difference between Dontnod and DON’T NOD? The apostrophe. The inclusion of the apostrophe was the most important step for the studio, as referenced on their website: “With this logo, we wanted to reintroduce the apostrophe and the space between the two words to truly embrace the meaning of DON’T NOD.
“DON’T NOD is two words to represent our tendency to be non-conventional as a company and in the games we create.”
Our designers focused on this point through the whole rebranding stage, working with DON’T NOD to create a strong logo with an emphasis on the apostrophe; big and bold, shattering the D and creating an N alongside it, to show the studio’s name transitioning from one word to two.
We also created an in-house style guide for the DON’T NOD team to reference, as well as a short video featuring the new logo in a range of different styles, which was used to introduce and announce DON’T NOD’s rebrand and new visual identity to the world.
