COMPANY OF HEROES 3 – CUSTOM CONSOLE CONTROLLERS
THE GAME
Real-time strategy (RTS) game Company of Heroes 3 was the latest entry in the popular World War II series when launched in 2023, featuring new updates including destructible environments. Company of Heroes 3 was developed by Relic Entertainment and published by SEGA.
THE CHALLENGE
First published on Windows platforms in February 2023, Company of Heroes 3 came to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X platforms at the end of May. To promote the game’s release, SEGA asked us to create custom console-specific controllers that could be used as competition prizes.

TAKEOFF'S SOLUTION
The Company of Heroes series first launched in 2006 and is popular amongst RTS fans because of its depictions of key World War II campaigns and the realism of locations and environments. We reflected that approach with our console controllers, with our team of talented artists custom painting and airbrushing controllers to resemble legendary wartime units and factions.
Designs were based on the US Sherman tanks of the era and the Devil’s Brigade commando unit – both key to the allied war effort. Each custom controller was housed in a bespoke handcrafted World War II-style ammo crate.
