THE PROJECT
MCV/DEVELOP is the UK’s leading media outlet for the games industry. The body also does a lot of work to support developers, publishers, retailers, and many other verticals across the sector, and has an annual awards show celebrating top talent across the industry.
OUR SOLUTION
The MCV/DEVELOP awards for 2023 coincided with the brand’s 25th anniversary; a landmark moment not just for the body but for the wider UK games industry. MCV/DEVELOP asked if we would like to sponsor and create special trophies for category winners and to highlight the milestone.

TAKEOFF'S SOLUTION
The MCV/DEVELOP awards are a highly-prestigious industry event in the UK games calendar, and we wanted to reflect its success through the trophies we were asked to produce for them. At the very start of the project we underlined that our trophies had to have a special quality, be unique and have a bespoke, handmade feel to them. The material used was key to fulfilling the brief.
Our 23 trophies were created from a red marble from Spain called Rosso Alicante, which was specially cut to shape by water jet. They were very heavy to emphasise quality and finished by hand, with experienced artists branding them with brushed-aluminium MCV logos. We have also created branded packaging for the trophies to be handled in.
