THE PROJECT
Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is the third expansion of the popular MMORPG, available for the PlayStation 4. Shadowbringers was developed and published by Square Enix.
THE CHALLENGE
To celebrate the launch of Shadowbringers Square Enix commissioned an exclusive PlayStation 4 custom console complete with custom controller.

TAKEOFF'S SOLUTION
For our money, the most interesting change in Shadowbringers is the Warrior of Light’s fall into darkness. Job class-wise, Dark Knights are valiant sentinels of justice, with no shield of allegiance, who use their greatswords to protect the people of Ishgard. Front and centre of our custom design was the Warrior of Darkness, complete with Shadowbringers logo.
Our custom PS4 and controller played on the Warrior of Darkness’s conflicting personality to great effect. Wrapped in black, small rays of golden light were added to the front of the console to represent the hope emitting from him, also immediately surrounded by light and fog to highlight his inner moral struggle. The controller was the opposite; a golden skin covered with streams of black to represent the character’s internal conflict.
